COURT HOUSE – The Cape May County Library welcomes the public to another spectacular cape cuisine demonstration presented by Chef Mark Kalla at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 8 at the main branch of the library, 30 Mechanic Street in Cape May Court House.
Chef Mark Kalla will demonstrate techniques and aspects of Southern-style and soul food cooking. Grits, sweet potato pie, fried chicken and other stomach-filling delights will be prepared and participants will be invited to sample the foods.
Kalla has worked at the Avalon Anchorage Marina Restaurant, which he developed and is still popular today; his own restaurant, The Barrier Island Inn; and as head chef for the Backyard Restaurant and later for Fish Tales. Kalla currently runs the Avalon Elementary School cafeteria and teaches culinary skills to children during the summer.
The program is free, however, space is limited; therefore registration and a valid library card are required to attend. Registration can be done by calling (609) 463-6350 or online at www.cmclibrary.org.
