Shakespeare presented in Erma

By On Deck Staff

Access to Art will present the acclaimed Aquila Theatre Company, a group of British and American actors, in Shakespeare’s timeless comedy, As You Like It, on Nov. l4 at 7:30 p.m. at the Paul W. Schmidtchen Theatre, 687 Route 9, Erma.
This year, Aquila’s ‘As You Like It’ opened up the LA Shakespeare festival and was the LA Times Critics’ Choice.
According to Barbara Beitel, Access to Art’s executive director, ‘As You Like It’ is a comedy, full of youth and laughter.
“I’d like people to know that Shakespeare is a lot of fun,” she noted. “He had a bead on us all, zeroed in, and shot it to the heart.
People can still identify with his characters.
“I think it’s (As You Like It) a zany comedy, with lots of characters, and some stock characters (good and evil), playing on the Prodigal Son, with lots of mocking about the art of love.
“Even it’s title is funny,” she continued. “As You Like It, as in ‘take what you want from it.’ So it can go many ways. It’s got a silly and flirtatious quality.”
Tickets can be reserved by calling Access to Art at 609-465-3963. Tickets will also be available at the door.
