By On Deck Staff

On Oct. 18 at 3 p.m., Jazz Vespers at the First Presbyterian Church, Hughes and Decatur sts., Cape May, presents veteran jazz, blues and gospel vocalist Lois Smith.
Smith, raised in and around Cape May, started singing when she was very young in both church choirs and school glee clubs.
Her biggest single influence was Carmen McCrae who was something of a mentor, giving Smith both musical and personal advice.
Joining Smith will be the ever-surprising Dean Schneider on keyboards and a rhythm section made up of some of the finest jazzers the region has to offer.
On Nov. 15 at 3 p.m., enjoy the big-band sound of the Joe Rotella Quintet, playing a range of big-band tunes in styles ranging from Bebop to California cool.
Free parking is available. Admission is free, although a love offering is appreciated.
The venue is wheelchair accessible. Call 884-0680 or visit www.capemayjazzvespers.com for more information.
