OCEAN CITY — The annual Doo Dah parade drew a large crowd Sat,. April 14 and featured basset hounds in a waddle that raised money for the Tri State Basset Hound Rescue League, impersonators of legendary comedians representing Abbott and Costello, Marx Brothers, W.C. Fields and Laurel and Hardy Fan Clubs, and an army of colorful costumed characters from across the country led by Rapid T. Rabbit of New York.
“Elwood” the winner of the World’s Ugliest Dog was carried by his owner. The parade featured clown brigades, a pirate brigade, marching soccer players, the Ghost Busters and array of bands let by the Pitman Hoboes.
The event was capped by the PieAsco where folks sit in grand stands in front of the Music Pier and when the signal is given smoosh each other in the face with shaving cream pies in a tribute to the late, great Soupy Sales.
TV personality Chuck McCann was the parade’s Grand Marshal.
