CAPE MAY — The Atlantic City Ballet (ACB) has announced its upcoming fall season, with performances at the Paul Schmidtchen Theater in Lower Cape May Regional.
Phyllis Papa, artistic director for the 27- year-old company, said, “It is going to be a thrilling season with new choreographers and new works that are taking the Company to the next level. It is very exciting to come back to New York. We are hoping to perform bi- annually in the City in Fall and Spring.”
The international company is truly diversified with professional dancers hailing from Spain, Italy, Latvia, Israel, Japan, Canada, Korea, Mexico and the United States.
The performance will be Sat., Oct. 9 at the Paul Schmidtchen Theater at 7:30 p.m.
The program is the full- length version of “Dracula” in three acts. Dracula, the ballet, was choreographed by Phyllis Papa in 2006 and is the signature ballet of the Atlantic City Ballet. Papa has put together a thriller on the stage of high professional standards and incredible choreography.
The ballet follows Bram Stoker’s story of Dracula. The story takes place in Eastern Europe when a young lawyer, Jonathan Harker is captured and imprisoned by Dracula.
Dracula, after seeing a photograph of Jonathan’s fiancé’, Mina, goes to victimize her and her best friend Lucy Westenra.
