What: Learn about “Question, Persuade, and Refer” suicide prevention training with a presentation from Alana Maldonado, a mental health awareness training coordinator with Cape Assist
When: Saturday, November 2 at 9 a.m.
Where: Tabernacle United Methodist Church, 702 Seashore Rd, Erma
QPR stands for Question, Persuade, and Refer- 3 simple steps that anyone can learn to help save a life from suicide. Just as people trained in CPR and the Heimlich Maneuver help save thousands of lives each year, people trained in QPR learn how to recognize warning signs of a suicide crisis and how to question, persuade, and refer someone to get help. This evidence-based training prepares you to perform QPR with confidence and ease.
As a QPR-trained Gatekeeper, you will learn to:
- Recognize the warning signs of suicide
- Know how to offer hope
- Learn about resources in the community
- Know how to get help and save a life.
- Who should take QPR training?
Who should participate? Everyone and anyone! The training is just as appropriate for someone with little to no mental health experience as it is for veterans of human service positions. We are all capable of offering hope and connection to save a life. Participants who attend the session will receive a certification in QPR.
