GIPPLE, DONALD JOHN
Donald John Gipple, 80 of Danville, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, March 26, 2025. Donald was born on June 21, 1944, a son of the late John C. and Laura (Smith) Gipple.
Donald was a 1962 graduate of Bloomsburg High School. Donald served his country from 1963-1967, in the United States Coast Guard, before his honorable discharge. Following Donald's discharge from activity duty he served for several years with the 177th FIG in the NJ Air National Guard.
On September 7, 1968, Donald married his beloved wife, the former Camille Onofrietti. They were married for 56 years. Together they had one daughter and one son.
While Donald was born in Bloomsburg, he and Camille spent 38 years building a life together in Villas, New Jersey, before moving back to Pennsylvania in 2008.
Professionally, Donald worked for the United States Postal Service for over thirty years, before his retirement in 1999. However in his retirement, Donald continued working. He was employed as a bus driver for Lower Township, NJ, Elementary Schools and Geisinger Medical Center as driver for the employee shuttle. Donald also worked at Weis Markets, Danville.
Donald was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, friend, brother and public servant. Donald devoted over forty years of his life as a volunteer fire fighter. His love of fire fighting began at the age of 16 when he became a Jr. fire fighter, in Bloomsburg. Donald was a life member and served as Assistant Chief with the Villas Volunteer Fire Company, New Jersey. Donald was a member of the American Legion. Donald was a former Governor and member of the Moose for over twenty years.
Donald is survived by his wife, Camille Gipple; son, Donald Gipple and his wife Deanne of Crystal River, Florida; Laura Gipple of Danville; five grandchildren, Justin and his wife Lauralyn, Timothy and his wife Shannon, Gage, Madison and Chase; two great grandchildren, Cooper and Cole; and one step-sister, Linda George and her husband Bernie of Bloomsburg.
Donald was preceded in death by his parents, John C. and Laura (Smith) Gipple; one brother, Larry Gipple of Berwick and one step-brother, David Drumheller of Bloomsburg.
A visitation was held on Monday, March 31, 2025 from 12:00-1:00 PM at the Danville Moose Lodge, 458 Mill Street, Danville. Donald's memorial service followed at 1:00 PM with his grandson, Timothy Gipple as officiant. Military honors provided by American Legion Post 40 Danville and the United States Coast Guard.
