Food Pantries Are a Blessing

By Karla Kiefer, Cape May

To the Editor:

For many years I volunteered at the First United Methodist Church food pantry in Court House. They gave me groceries and gift cards. Priorities changed. I had fallen in Cape May several times. So now I receive groceries from the Cape May Community Food Closet.

I am counting my blessings on this cloudy, rainy day. I appreciate the food pantries.

In Matthew 6:33, the Bible says, “Seek the kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need.” I have to trust God at all costs.

A quote from Mother Teresa’s journal reads, “The poverty of the poor is so hard. When I was going and going til my legs and arms were paining, I was thinking of how they have to suffer to get food and shelter.”

Jesus suffered on the cross for me. When I am in pain, I look for something to enjoy, like singing a song or hymn.
