DE ANGELIS, MICHAEL B. Michael B. De Angelis, age 57, passed away on to a better place on November 11, 2023, six days after he had a very Happy Birthday party. He is now joining his Mom, Lis who preceded him. Michael was born with Down Syndrome and always greeted everyone with a cheery smile and hug, bringing joy to all who knew him. In his youth, he was a fearless athlete, swimming underwater from one end of a swimming pool to the other. Another time, while running in a Special Olympics race, his belt broke. He quickly hitched up his shorts and doggedly persevered until he had won his gold medal that day, examples that gave pride to all who loved him. His health deteriorated, but he always projected an upbeat attitude, always greeting friends and strangers with a smile, and a greeting of "Happy Easter!" Father Mike, who worked with Mother Theresa, assured that Michael would go straight to Heaven, because he was a total innocent, and we know Michael is there now with his Mom. Special thanks to the caring staff and his friends at Keystone Residence, where Michael spent his last 47 years. Michael is survived by his father Tony, his brother Chris, Michael's sister-in-law Amy, and was the beloved uncle of Kristin, Tom, and Dane De Angelis. To celebrate Michael's life, Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on December 7th (Thursday) at 12:30pm in Our Lady Star of the Sea Church, Cape May. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to Compassionate Care Hospice, 1430 US Highway 206 Suite 200, Bedminster, NJ 07921. Interment will be at a later date.
