SWAINTON – A two-vehicle crash involving an Inspira ambulance sent the driver of the other vehicle to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

According to a news release issued by the Middle Township Police Department, on Saturday, July 6, at about 12:40 p.m., the Inspira ambulance was traveling north on Route 9 in Swainton with lights and sirens activated, on its way to a medical emergency. Police said the driver of the other vehicle pulled out in front of the ambulance, and the collision occurred.

EMT personnel from the ambulance were uninjured; however, the other driver, 78, from Lansdowne, Pennsylvania, was flown to Jefferson Hospital. Route 9 north was closed for approximately two hours. Police said a traffic summons is pending further investigation of the crash.

Assisting on the accident scene was the Cape May Court House Fire Department.
