ELIZABETH BASSETT
Elizabeth Bassett Cooley passed away on February 4th, 2025 at the age of 83 years old. She passed on near her home in North Port, FL, and was surrounded by her husband, Gary Cooley, and her children.
Liz/Mom/Nana was born in Bangor, Maine, where she was raised alongside her 11 siblings. She loved to pick wild blueberries and spend time with her family. After getting married to Carroll Bassett and raising their children, Elizabeth relocated to North Cape May. She worked at the Sea Crest Inn for many years, and met her second husband Gary Cooley. Elizabeth and Gary were together for over 30 years, making many memories traveling and enjoying the simple things (like dancing and going to the casino).
Liz enjoyed warm weather, boating, a glass of wine, and most of all, being with family. She had the most beautiful blue eyes and contagious laugh. She is survived by her husband, Gary Cooley, her 3 children, John Bassett, Teri Bassett, and Lisa Bassett, her 7 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, and step children. Of all her accomplishments, she was most proud of her children. Her legacy of strength, resilience, kindness, and love will live on forever. We know she is in heaven, catching up with those who passed before her. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

LAWRENCE, STEPHEN WAYNE Stephen Wayne Lawrence, 79, passed away on March 26, 2025. Born in Washington DC, he was the son of the late William Joseph Lawrence and Geraldine Ellington Lawrence.
