Waterfront dining at Schooner Landing

By Jim Vanore

Take your pick as you cross the George Redding Bridge on Route 47 heading into Wildwood.
Have a family lunch.
Enjoy casual dining.
Enjoy fine dining.
Take advantage of gentle waterfront breezes while having a cocktail and sampling some raw bar specials.
Schooner Landing offers you any and all of these choices—and more.
• The Boathouse Restaurant & Marina Deck (729-5301) is celebrating its 20th anniversary this summer season, and all diners overlook the water.
“Lots of restaurants say they’re on the water,” said General Manager Pam Castick, “but the Boathouse is one of the few that sits on top of the water.”
Under the guidance of Chef Andrew Mallon, the Boathouse will be serving dinner into Oct., and will have live entertainment until Labor Day—on Thursday from 7-11 p.m., and Sunday from 2-6 p.m.
Happy Hour from Monday to Friday also has live music from 4-6 p.m.

• Uries Waterfront Restaurant (522-4189) is described by Manager Kevin Coombs as ‘family-friendly.’
“There’s something for all ages,” he said.
This casual restaurant is open for lunch and dinner through Sept. 20, then on weekends until Oct. 17. And there are always dinner specials.
“Chef Robbie Massaro usually manages to come up with something special every night,” said Coombs.
Uries is known for their crabs—Maryland blues, Dungeness, and snow crabs. And of course their raw sushi bar.
What sets Uries apart as a family restaurant is their arcade for the kids, and gift shop for the adults.

• Beach Creek Oyster Bar & Grille (522-1062) is entering its eighth season serving quality casual fine-dining in the Wildwoods, and you can even choose indoor or open deck dining from 4 p.m.
They have an exclusive wine list, live music, and the Sunset Martini Bar where the happy hour and raw bar specials run from 3-5 p.m.
Three years ago Beach Creek added their three-course first seating menu, available between 5 and 6 p.m. Its $20 price tag has yet to change, and it has become so popular with diners that this year Beach Creek has decided to open from 4 p.m.
And for special events—Beach Creek specializes in bridal and baby showers—their daytime event prices are not only competitive with other venues, but are quite often better, according to Lori, Beach Creek’s manager.
And Beach Creek has an employee return rate of over 90 percent, so requests for particular servers is not only allowed, but encouraged.
It’s a restaurant turning the tide from brilliant young newcomer to tried and true staple.

Whomever you’re with; whatever you’re looking for in dining, you’ll find it at Schooner Landing.
