Tabernacle United Methodist Church Prepared Hurricane Relief Kits for Houston

Troops with donations.

By Press Release

ERMA — Tabernacle United Methodist Church in Erma saw the devastation in Houston and decided they needed to do something. They reached out to Local Churches, the community and The Cape May County Girl Scouts about a goal. The Goal was to make 250 Hygiene Kits for UMCOR to take down to the Hurricane Victims. With such a large goal, it seemed impossible with one week for the whole plan to be set to take place.
Deliveries and Drop Offs started happening right away. Sept 10 at 12:30 p.m. a prayer was said over all the items and the Assembly line was started. By 3 p.m. all of the kits were completed. The final Count was a resounding 370!
We also were able to collect items for Activation ReAct, by filling multiple tables and overflowing into boxes. Another $640 was collected to send to an Outreach Church in Houston that is helping to feed the families and workers while they clean up form the Hurricane Harvey.
