MARMORA – Members of St. Maximilian Kolbe Church, Marmora, joined Cape Hope, and its supporters April 2, in packing “Blessing Bags” to be delivered to those who are challenged by homelessness.
According to a release, Liam and Maeve Stanford of Upper Township, organized their second Blessing Bag Collection at St. Maximilian Kolbe Parish to benefit Cape Hope’s Homeless Outreach Ministry.
Throughout the Lenten season, St. Maximilian Kolbe parishioners donated items.
Marmora Family Dental and Dr. John Keating contributed dental items.
On April 14, following the 5 p.m. Palm Sunday Mass, parishioners and religious education students assembled over 100 food bags and 100 toiletry/hygiene bags.
The event was held at Cape Community Church’s Family Center (Court House) where a warming center was operated during this past Code Blue season.
The Blessing Bags are distributed through Cape Hope’s LOOP (Living Out Our Purpose) Ministry when encounters with the homeless are made.
The bags contain hygiene and small food items, as well as information about community resources, plus emergency contact phone numbers.
This kind of event is held three or four times annually.
