St. John Ocean City Celebrates a ‘Rejoicing Spirits’ Christmas, Dec. 3

By Press Release

OCEAN CITY – St. John Lutheran Church in Ocean City will celebrate a Christmas Rejoicing Spirits worship service Dec. 3 at 1 p.m.  This popular service will include a Christmas Carol Sing-Along and a Living Nativity that all are invited to join.  St. John is the first church in New Jersey to host monthly Rejoicing Spirits worship services and recently was honored to receive the 2017 Frank Unkle organization Outstanding Service Award for improving the quality of life of individuals with disabilities in Cape May County.
Rejoicing Spirits is an innovative ministry created to enrich the spiritual lives of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities, their families, friends and other supportive community members. This is done by offering a meaningful, inclusive worship and fellowship community which shares God’s word and celebrates the message of God’s loving grace. The worship service is adapted to be more welcoming to people with intellectual and developmental disabilities so they are able to actively participate and have roles in the service. All Rejoicing Spirits worship is open to people with or without disability and members of congregations may prefer the more casual, open style of worship. The goal is to provide people with disabilities an entry point to church participation that would otherwise not be available.  For more information about Rejoicing Spirits visit www.rejoicingspirits.org.
Rejoicing Spirits worship services are held the first Sunday of each month at 1 p.m. For more information, contact the church office at 609-399-0798 or office@stjohnlutheranoc.org. Ample free parking is provided in the church parking lot on Central Avenue. For directions go to www.stjohnlutheranoc.org. St. John Lutheran Church is a member church of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA) and is located at the corner of 10th and Central Avenue in Ocean City.
