COURT HOUSE – When the Middle Township Middle School holds its seventh-annual spelling bee Feb. 7, at 8:30 a.m., at the Middle PAC, among the 30 school finalists will be two sisters, one of whom has been there and won before.
According to a release, eighth-grader, Kiara Mollenkof captured the school’s spelling crown last year by spelling correctly the word “asseveration.”
She lost in the South Jersey Regional, however, and is back in a comeback attempt this year. Getting into the act with her this year will be her sister, Kaiden, a sixth-grader, who qualified with 28 others in a series of paper and pencil tests in the classroom in January.
“It is sure to be a very competitive spelling bee,” stated Constance Chabok, an event coordinator.
The winner moves on to the South Jersey Spelling Bee to be held at Petway Elementary School in Vineland in March. That winner advances to the Scripps National Spelling Bee finals this spring in Washington.
