The 39th Annual Captain Bill Gallagher 10-Mile Island Run will be held Aug. 8 at 5:30 p.m. at 44th St. and The Promenade in Sea Isle with participants running north on the boardwalk to the 29th Street ramp.
The race ends in front of the Beach Patrol Headquarters. There will be free parking for all registrants until 9 p.m. at the municipal lot, 48th St. and Central Ave.
Race features will include digital clocks to provide runners with their time at each mile marker, water stations along the course, and toilet facilities at the start and finish of the race.
The Sea Isle Beach Patrol emergency medical technicians will be available as well during the race. L & M Computerized Sports will also be posting a roster for racers to ascertain their time and places after the event. This will be available on their Web site at www.lmsports.com.
T-shirts will be provided to the first 1,200 registrants, and cash prizes will be awarded to overall first through third place winners, as well as the first police officer, firefighter, and SICBP alumni to finish the race.
Trophies will be awarded to first through tenth place finishers, as well as to first and second place finishers in different age groups.
The awards ceremony will take place at the Beach Patrol Headquarters at 7:15 p.m.
Post registration is $25. Teams may also post-register for $28 per person.
Post-registration on the day of the race, as well as race packet pick-up, will take place at the Community Lodge, 300 JFK Boulevard, between noon and 5 p.m.
