By Al Campbell

CREST HAVEN — Terrance Farlow, a Wildwood High School pupil, won first place in the Cape May County 2009 Earth Day Logo Contest.
Present at the April 7 freeholders’ meeting, Farlow watched as Director Daniel Beyel and Kimberly Stahler unveiled his winning artwork.
Stahler, of Middle Township High School, was Beyel’s stand-in for the regular meeting portion of Student Government Day.
The county-sponsored contest is held to heighten awareness of the Cape May County Earth Day celebration that will be held at Cape May County Park on April 25.
This year’s theme will be “Reduce Your Ecological Footprint.”
Farlow’s black-and-white logo will appear on Earth Day T-shirts.
In addition, he won a $75 Savings Bond.
Second place winner, Briana Lynn Thompson, of Margaret Mace School, and third place winner, Clayton Rossner of Cape May Technical High School won $50 Savings Bonds, and all winners received a plaque of recognition and a “county goodie bag.”
Earth Day will be celebrated at the County Park and Zoo April 25 from 9 a.m., when a 5K-Earth Day Run will open the day’s events, which start at 10 a.m.
The series of activities will continue throughout the day until 4 p.m.
A guided one-mile Earth Walk will take place at 11 a.m.
Eco-shops, music, children’s activities and a craft show will be included in the events.
