Stone Harbor Teachers Teach Without Contract

STONE HARBOR –– Educators at Stone Harbor Elementary School have no contract for the 2008-09 school year as they return back to work.
“We are disappointed the board has dragged out this process,” said Kathy Schoenberger, co-president of the Board of Education Association.
At a highly-attended Board of Education meeting Sept. 10, Schoenberger said members of the association have had many meetings and negotiations but a contract has not yet been settled. She requested the board put together a “fair, competitive contract.”
“We are being paid last year’s salary,” she said. “Members are now returning to work and we’ve been patient and held up our end of the deal.”
