By Leslie Truluck

STONE HARBOR — New Jersey School Boards Association encourages interested persons to apply for two positions available on the Stone Harbor Board of Education.
The deadline to file a nominating petition to run for positions on the Stone Harbor Board of Education is Monday, March 2 at 4 p.m.
The election is scheduled for Tuesday, April 21. Prospective school board candidates can obtain a School Board Candidate Kit at the local school district office at 275 93rd Street here.
Published by the New Jersey School Boards Association (NJSBA), the candidate kit includes a nominating petition and information about legal qualifications for school board candidacy and the role of the school board member.
Candidate kits include information about the New Jersey School Ethics Act, important dates in the school election process and briefing sessions for school board candidates.
“One of the most meaningful contributions a citizen can make to their community is serving on their local board of education, Harry Delgado, NJSBA president said.
“I encourage all interested persons to consider school board membership. It doesn’t require a degree in education, or a background in politics. However, it does require a sincere interest in the community, its children and their education.”
