DENNIS TOWNSHIP – School Resource Officer Dianna Wamsher visited Dennis Township 8th grade social studies classes recently.
Invited by teacher Steve Gurdgiel, NJ State Police Trooper Dianna Wamsher is the School Resource Officer assigned to Dennis Township School District.
Wamsher spoke to the 8th graders on a number of topics ranging from Constitutional Amendments to law enforcement training and careers.
Gurdgiel says Wamsher’s visit provides a real life example of many of the concepts he teaches his students in 8th grade social studies.
“We focus a great deal on civics and American government so we talk about issues like search and seizure, things that Trooper Wamsher deals with every day,” explains Gurdgiel.
He thinks the experience of talking with a law enforcement officer also helps students understand and respect the officer’s role in the community.
