FUN Families United Network Academy Curriculum Book Sale
Recently, Families United Network Academy hosted their 9th annual book sale at the Upper Township Community Center. Unlike many of the past years, the sun was shining brightly, which lifted the spirits of many of the hard workers who strived to make the day a success.
While the sale mostly consisted of school curriculum, there were plenty of fiction and historical books for sale.
Families United Network Academy has always provided a snack stand for the hungry buyers. Shoppers and sellers alike reported that they were already looking forward to next year.Atlantic Cape Community College
Atlantic Cape Community College will host an information session for high school students eligible for free Atlantic Cape tuition under the NJ STARS and NJ STARS II scholarship programs. The event is scheduled for 6 p.m. on May 1, in Atlantic Cape’s Walter Edge Theater, 5100 Black Horse Pike, Mays Landing. Sharon Austin, co-chair and senior marketing manager, New Jersey Higher Education Student Assistance Authority, will discuss the benefits of the NJ STARS program.
There will be a panel discussion with representatives from Atlantic Cape, four-year colleges and financial aid. Established by the state in 2004, NJ STARS—Student Tuition Assistance Reward Scholarship—provides high school students graduating in the top 15 percent of their class with free tuition at their local community college. Students from Atlantic and Cape May counties who meet all criteria will have up to two years from the date of high school graduation to enroll and begin using the scholarship at Atlantic Cape. Students must first apply for all need-based federal and merit-based state financial aid grants. After that, NJ STARS will cover the remaining balance of tuition.
Atlantic Cape’s transfer agreements with four-year colleges and universities ensure a seamless transition to a four-year bachelor’s degree program. Students can save more than $50,000 in tuition and fees at a four-year college or university by spending their first two years at Atlantic Cape. To RSVP for this information session, visit http://www.atlantic.edu/admission/njstars/njstarsForm.html. For more information about NJ STARS and NJ STARS II, contact Linda McLeod, assistant director of college recruitment, at (609) 343-5009, (609) 625-1111, or (609) 463-4774, ext. 5009, or email mcleod@atlantic.edu.
