Cape Christian Academy held their annual Senior Social the evening of Friday, May 31 upstairs at the Bellevue Tavern in Court House. This special event featured an Italian theme that began with a Hollywood “red carpet” walk decorated with the names of the stars of the show, the seniors.
Those in attendance entered by way of an elaborate archway into a Tuscan setting. The seniors and their dates were seated at bistro tables made by the Hope family and given to the seniors following the dinner. Keeping with the theme, the buffet meal included an assortment of traditional Italian fare. There were dessert stations for delicacies such as tiramisu and cannoli. Local musician and missionary, Tom Doyle, provided live entertainment.
Additionally, students enjoyed partaking in a “Photo Booth”, adorning their already fancy attire with hats, boas and masks for pictures. 11th grade student and renowned yo-yo artist, Matt Burkhead, performed. Guest speaker, Dustin Phillips, a recent high school teacher, spoke blessings to the graduates. Also, a special former teacher, Mrs. Elizabeth Bonheim, sent a surprise video spoofing each of the seniors with love and well wishes. The Junior Class presented the seniors with special parting gifts. Many thanks to the members of the junior class and Mrs. Debi Papperman for all the planning and hard work that made the night a huge success!”
On Friday, May 24, as a project for American and World History class, Cape Christian Academy’s 7th and 8th graders participated in their annual Living Wax Museum. The students were asked to choose a character from history to dress-up as, dramatize and share biographical information. Younger students pressed a pretend button on the wall by each character which would prompt a presentation of the historical figure.”
