Panther Named to All-American Band

By Joe Hart

COURT HOUSE — A Panther was named to the U.S. Army All-American Marching Band.
Drum Major Christine Norton, of the Middle Township High School Marching Band, was selected as one of the top 97 marching musicians from across the country.
The band is scheduled to perform Jan. 3 in the halftime show at the U.S. Army All-American Bowl in the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas.
The All-American Bowl is recognized as the premier high school football event in the country and the band allows the musicians to showcase their skills for a national audience.
“Christine is a tremendously skilled musician and a role model to many of her fellow band members,” said Col. David Lee, director of strategic communications, marketing and outreach for the U.S. Army Accessions Command.
“We’re proud to be the title partner of a program that, like the Army, provides young Americans like Christine with experience, which strengthen them and help them succeed in life as leaders.”
In accepting this recognition, Norton expressed tearful thanks to her fellow band members, the All-American Band Selection Committee and especially her family without whom none of this would be possible, she said.
