Ocean City Teacher Continues Reading to Pupils Via YouTube

Carrie Merritt

By Press Release

OCEAN CITY – As children across the state adjust to the new reality of remote learning, a teacher in Ocean City,  is taking a unique approach to keeping in touch with her students.
According to a release, Carrie Merritt, a first-grade teacher at the Ocean City Primary School, is making her students smile through the magic of the internet by reading a story each day while dressed up as one of the characters.
“Read Aloud” is one of Merritt’s favorite parts of teaching and she didn’t want it to end just because she can’t be in the classroom.
By recording the Read Alouds each day and uploading them to YouTube, she’s able to not only engage the students but also maintain some normalcy during very different times.
