Middle Township Middle School Hosts St. Baldrick’s Event to Help Fund Cancer Research

By PRess Release

COURT HOUSE – Over 80 individuals will gather in the Middle Township Middle School gymnasium ready to shave their heads March 17 at a St. Baldrick’s event.

According to a release, students and staff aren’t the only ones baring it all. They will be joined by officers from the Middle Township Police Department who join to support the fight against pediatric cancer.

A teacher at the middle school introduced the idea of the event seven years ago to honor students who are fighting cancer or have lost their lives to the disease.

The event is also in memory of students from Middle Township public schools who have lost a battle with cancer.

“This event is different than most fundraisers because it welcomes everyone to participate, regardless of age,” stated Principal (and participant) Jeff Ortman. “Our students and staff take this cause to heart because we have students who need(ed) this support. Not to mention, the tremendous encouragement and participation from the police department is incredible.”

Over the years, this event has raised more than $65,000, and participation continues to grow. Donations for the 2020 event have surpassed $27,000 intending to reach $30,000.
