COURT HOUSE – Middle Township High School Alumni Association presented scholarships to three graduating seniors at their 28th Annual Dinner June 1 held at the Avalon Links Restaurant.
Honored were Camryn Simmerman, who plans to attend Loyola University Maryland to study International Business and French; Sophia Ellis, who plans to attend University of the Sciences majoring in Pharmacy; and Hannah Rose Lafferty-Zoltowski, who will attend The University of the Arts to study Musical Theater. Each were awarded $1,000.
According to Scholarship Committee Chair and Trustee, Leigh Ann “Holmes” Downie, “This year’s applicants were highly qualified and the decision was difficult.” Downie added, “We found the funds to give three instead of two scholarships and we are pleased with the choices the committee made.”
Committee member and past president, Jeanette “Letts” McCarty said, “I am always encouraged with the quality of the candidates we have to select from.”
The association is a non-profit organization funded by dues and contributions. Treasurer and past president Rick Rixey said, “We are greatly appreciative of the MTHS Multi-Class Reunion Committee and alumni members for their contributions to the Scholarship Fund.”
“This is the type of generosity we seek,” said President Leatrice Westcott, adding, “The future of our association and the future of our graduates depends on contributions we receive so please give if you are able. We encourage alumni classes to consider donating to the association when they have their reunions.”
