ERMA – Lower Cape May Regional (LCMR) boys’ lacrosse team and Victorian Gardens and Landscaping volunteered their time to do yard work at the home of a member of the community in North Cape May who is battling cancer.
The HEADstrong Lacrosse Foundation reached out and LCMR lacrosse team, Coach Chris Boyle, and Victorian Gardens and Landscaping, along with owners Keith Yatsk and Kim Harris responded.
HEADstrong is a national lacrosse organization that provides an unmatched standard of excellence athletically, academically, and in the community. The mission is to relentlessly improve quality of life for those affected by cancer. With every action that the organization makes, they are fulfilling the vision of the late Nicholas Colleluori, the organization’s founder. Nick’s last wish was that others would benefit from his journey.
Victorian Gardens and Landscaping sent three trucks with nine employees to oversee the volunteer efforts of the crew of 23 lacrosse players. The Victorian Gardens handled the power tools while the lacrosse team cleared debris, raked, mulched, and cleaned old flower beds and created new flower beds.
Harris noted that the team took time after their school commitments and spent over two hours at work.
“The woman who is fighting a battle with cancer had always had a nice yard and couldn’t care for it as she liked after her husband passed away and she began filling ill,” Harris said. “She so appreciated having her yard cleaned up and looking nice so that she could spend a few nice days outdoors enjoying her yard.”
