DAR Essay Contest Winners Announced

COURT HOUSE — Results of the Local 2009-2010 DAR Historical Essay Contest, “The Transcontinental Railroad” have been announced.The students who placed first through third place were honored and received their certificates at the Cape May Patriot’s meeting on Feb. 12, at the Rutger’s Extension Building.
A total of 54 essays were received from a total of three grade levels. First place finishers have had their essays forwarded to the New Jersey State DAR.
Results of this year’s local competition were as follows:
Sixth Grade, winner, Makena Hope Bonham, Cape Christian Academy;
First runner-up, Quinn Bithell, West Cape May Elementary .
Seventh Grade winner, Erin Rundall, Upper Township Middle School
First runner-up, Sean McBride, St. Ann Regional School;
Second runner-up, Scott Hogan, Upper Township Middle School
Eighth Grade winner, Kaitlyn Fox, Bishop McHugh Regional School;
First runner-up — John Winans, St Ann Regional School;
Second runner-up, Emily Freeman, Bishop McHugh Regional School.
