County Technical School Board Reorganizes

CREST HAVEN — Robert Boyd of Cape May took his oath, and returned to the Cape May County Technical School District Board of Education, Nov. 3 at the reorganization meeting.
Boyd, retired Cape May police chief, will serve in his second term which expires Oct. 31, 2012. He was reappointed by freeholders earlier this year.
Beatrice Payne of Woodbine, long-serving board president, was returned to that position by unanimous vote. She was also reelected as delegate to the Cape May County School Board Association as well as to the state organization.
Arthur Cornell of Court House was unanimously reelected vice president.
Among one-year appointments approved by the board:
• Coopr Levenson attorneys at law, solicitor at $150 per hour.
• Barbour and Barbour P.S. legal counsel for personnel and special counsel at $150 per hour.
• Ford Scott Seidenberg & Kennedy auditor at an auual rate of $24,750, previously $24,255.
• Dr. Jeffrey Aversa, physician, att a rate of $40 per physical exam/history and $20 per review of student physicals.
NIA Group Associates, LLC, was appointed insurance broker of record.
The Herald Newspaper was named official weekly newspaper and The Press of Atlantic City was named official daily newspaper for legal notice publications.
Sturdy Savings Bank was named official depository of school funds.
James Craft was appointed treasurer until Oct. 31, 2009. His salary is $7,323.
The board will meet on the third Tuesday of each month at 1 p.m. in the Administration Building on: Nov. 18, for special meeting, Dec. 16, 2008 and in 2009: Jan. 20, Feb. 17, March 17, April 21, May 19, June 16, July 21, Aug. 18, Sept. 15, Oct. 20 and Nov. 2 (reorganization).
Glen Ortnam, of Ford Scott Seidenburg & Kennedy gave his audit report, and nothing that nothing was in need of correction.
Rusty Miller, announced that two students received funds from the Donna Wise Scholarship, named for the late teacher of cossmetology. A post-secondary student was awarded $500, which she placed toward her tuition, and a high school student of cosmetology was awarded $300, with which she purchased a required cosmetology kit.
