COURT HOUSE — The Ambassadors Club at Atlantic Cape Community College concluded its teddy bear drive, to give to children for comfort at accident and crime scenes, with a total of 557 teddy bears students and staff have collected since October.
Bears collected will be delivered to police, emergency and social service agencies countywide.
Club members sorted bears into 13 piles Dec. 4 to send to the following agencies: Cape May City Police Department, New Jersey State Police in Woodbine Barracks, Wildwood Police Department, North Wildwood Police Department, Avalon Police Department, Sea Isle City Police Department, Middle Township Police Department, Stone Harbor Police Department, Lower Township Rescue Squad, Upper Township Rescue Squad, Coalition Against Rape and Abuse, Cape Regional Medical Center and Division of Youth and Family Services (DYFS.)
Club members Sam Nunlist, Rachel Ballezzi, Kimi Becher, Sean Harrell, Mike Seningen and Matt Cohen contributed time from their busy final exam college-life schedules to participate in a positive, worthwhile cause.
The assortment of small, large, colorful, plain, and fancy bears will comfort young people who have undergone traumatic experiences.
“We want to make sure each (agency) gets a good selection and a nice diversity of bears for all different types of kids,” staff advisor Lisa Apel-Gendron said.
A box of bears was also donated from Accent on Beauty salon in Cape May and from the Mays Landing campus.
