LOWER TOWNSHIP — Lower Township residents are invited to a community beach cleanup on Sat., May 20.
Councilman Roland Roy, said that he was motivated to start a beach clean initiative after living and working in the township for a number of years and frequently encountering trash along the bay beaches.
He is urging neighborhood resident and visitors to get involved by spreading the word and inviting others to go to the bay beach access street closest to their home with protective gloves and trash bags. From there groups should spread out to comb the beaches and remove debris.
The cleanup begins Saturday May 20 at 10 a.m. at any public beach access along the bay.
The cleanup will run from 10 a.m. until noon.
Filled bags of trash should be placed at the street ends in garbage bags where they will be picked up by public works.
