OCEAN CITY – David Joynt, pastor of the large Presbyterian Church of Toms River, is the speaker this Sunday at Ocean City Tabernacle, July 3. PCTR has gathered cooperation from the churches of Toms River to provide unique support for the needy of the community, while maintaining a traditional and strong witness. Joynt preaches at both the 8:30 and 10:30 a.m. services.
Music for the morning is by tenor Jim Ricotta and the New Jersey Chamber Brass.
For the Philadelphia Organ Quartet 7:00 pm concert, Allen Organ Company (with Fred Astmann, Grafton Piano & Organ) brought three additional organs to supplement the Tabernacle’s large Renaissance model. Members of the Quartet are all organists at the famed “Wanamaker” organ in Macy’s central hall. They include Rudy Lucente, Jr., St. Rose Catholic Church, North Wales, PA; Peter Richard Conte, Wanamaker Grand Court Organist; Michael H. Stairs, Philadelphia Orchestra Organist; and Colin B. Howland, Park Cities Church, Dallas, TX. The concert is partially underwritten by the Kurz Arts Fund.
An informal song service, ranging from hymns to new praise and worship songs, precedes each service. Greg Field is songleader with Carolyn Lothian on the concert grand Steinway piano and Jeff Seals on the four-manual Allen organ. Paul Berges, drummer, and Corey Robinson, bass guitar, join on the upbeat tunes.
Child-care is in the Noah’s Ark nursery morning and evening and age-appropriate Sunday School is offered for children during the morning services. Vacation Bible School for children age 4 through 6th grade is on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday this week.
Wednesday, July 13, 7 p.m., Ventriloquist Ryan and Friends, is at the Tabernacle. Ryan was in Ocean City for First Night and performed to a packed crowd this past winter. He will appear for Vacation Bible School in the morning and in this free (offering received) program in the evening.
