POSTPONED: Stone Harbor to Celebrate Olympic Day with Re-opening of Chelsea Place Park

UPDATE: The Grand Re-opening of Chelsea Place Park now scheduled for June 20 at 9:30 a.m.
STONE HARBOR – The spirit of the Olympic Movement will roll into Stone Harbor as the Borough hosts Chelsea Place Park Grand Re-opening Ceremony in celebration of Olympic Day.
Please join the Borough of Stone Harbor and County Freeholders/Open Space Board June 17, 2016 at 9:30 a.m. for the ceremonial ribbon cutting at Chelsea Place Park.  “We are excited to take part in Olympic Day and inspire children in the Stone Harbor community,” said Judy Davies-Dunhour, Borough Council chairman of the committee that designed the park. “The Borough of Stone Harbor is proud to support the Olympic Movement and encourage children to lead healthy, active lives.” 
Immediately following the ribbon cutting, the Stone Harbor Elementary school children will christen the park on their last day of school by competing in a variety of games inspired by Olympic sports including volleyball, tug-of-war, and foot races.  The Borough invites you to stay, play and enjoy our new playground, adult fitness equipment, walking trail, bocce court, and sand volleyball courts! 
This event is one of more than 2,000 events taking place nationwide during the month of June. The events, designed to engage youth and promote the ideals of the Olympic movement, family-friendly activities and interactive learning experiences.
Around the world, more than 160 countries take part in the annual celebration. Olympic Day, created in 1948 to commemorate the birth of the modern Olympic Games, focuses on the Olympic values and ideals such as fair play, perseverance, respect and sportsmanship.
