CAPE MAY – Carol Obligado of Cape May is the Mid-Atlantic Center for the Arts & Humanities (MAC) Volunteer of the Month for January 2016. Janice Coyle, MAC’s Director of Visitor Services and Special Events, nominated Carol for the honor. Carol is the church organist at the Episcopal Church of the Advent and the First Presbyterian Church of Cape May, and the director of the bell choirs at both churches. For three years, she has been organizing and leading a choir made up of members from both churches in performance at the annual Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony at the 1879 Emlen Physick Estate, which draws hundreds to the estate to celebrate the start of the Christmas season. This year, Carol also led a bell choir in performance at the Episcopal Church of the Advent and the First Presbyterian Church of Cape May, which played during several of MAC’s Christmas Candlelight House Tours, which tour-goers enjoyed immensely and which was an inspiring addition to the tour experience, Coyle said. “We are so grateful and honored to share these beautiful musical experiences with the public and we could not do so without the generosity of Carol and her talented group of singers and musicians.” The Volunteer of the Month award is given to a person who demonstrates a high degree of dedication, commitment and constancy to MAC’s volunteer program. Cape May County – Why don't we have a local TV station in South Jersey? We had channel 40 in Linwood and that's gone. Maybe because it highlighted real news at times!! With all due respect to the Cape May…
