NORTH WILDWOOD — Members of Cape Trinity Catholic 5th grade class were appointed Mayor, Council, City Administrator, City Clerk, Engineer and Solicitor for the day on Thurs., Nov. 10, 2016. The newly appointed City officials approved mock ordinances, resolutions; made appointments and received & filed communications and reports in the Council Chambers this morning at 10:00 a.m. Furthermore, there were several comments from the ‘general public’ (classmates) regarding the extension of Cape Trinity Catholic’s lunch hour, reduction of homework and the creation of new extracurricular activities. Aimee Moreno’s Cape Trinity Catholic 5th grade class also enjoyed a tour of the Mayor’s Office and Police Department before entering the Council chambers for their mock City Council meeting.
“Given the fact that the class is currently studying government, this is the best way to teach the children the facets of municipal government and how our work correlates with their studies,” said Mayor Patrick Rosenello. “We tried to make this experience for the children as parallel to a normal City council meeting as possible, adding a little bit of relatable flare for the children to have fun with. All in all, it was a great experience for the students,” said Mayor Patrick Rosenello.
