The Needle & Thread 4-H Club is a sewing club that meets on the 2nd and 4th Wednesday of the month. The members have been learning how to read a pattern, pick out fabric, how to pin projects, and operate and identify parts of a sewing machine. The club also picks projects they are interested in making. Some of their projects have been clothing items such as pajamas, dresses, and skirts as well as other items like quilts, bags, wall hangings, and stuffed Christmas trees. Some members have their own sewing machines, but we have machines available that have been donated for use at our meetings.
The Needle & Thread 4-H Sewing Club has participated in a number of service projects which have included making cat beds for the Cape May County Animal Shelter, Walker bags for senior citizens and cleanup projects at the 4-H fairgrounds.
The club encourages the children to work together and make lasting friendships, as well as developing their sewing skills. We are always looking for new members, so if you would like to be a part of our club, call the 4-H Youth Development program at 609-465-5115, ext. 3605.
