Speech pathologist Monica LaSalle-Footit MA CCC/SLP has opened a new practice in North Wildwood to bring her speech-language pathology services to families in the area. With over 25 years’ experience working with clients in all areas of communications and swallowing rehabilitation, Monica is ready to rebuild her clientele and work with new families in the Cape May County region.
Monica began her career working with the geriatric population as a Speech Pathologist and Director of Rehabilitation, while also earning her Nursing Home Administration License and serving as a consultant for health care networks in the tri-state area. In 2007, Monica opened Effective Communication Solutions, which served clients in the Philadelphia and surrounding areas. With this practice, she shifted her focus to the pediatric population and worked as a speech therapist to hundreds of families. In 2009, Monica received accommodations from the City Council of Philadelphia for her excellence in care for children with autism.
In 2012, Monica opened Exceptional Kidz Rehabilitation, one of the fastest-growing pediatric rehabilitation services for military families stationed throughout the country. Monica’s husband, who served in the United States Army for 27 years, connected her with the Exceptional Family Member Program (EFMP), which offers services for military families with special needs. She opened offices at Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst, Dover Air Force Base, and Fort Drum before selling the practice in 2016. Earlier this year, she decided to return to private practice and is ready to work with families and meet new clients in Cape May and Atlantic counties.
Monica has experience with all areas of communication, social language, and swallowing impairments for clients throughout their lifespan. She works with clients of all ages, from children working to improve communication skills at a young age to adults with neurological diseases or those recovering from cancer. Her areas of focus include articulation, fluency, expressive language, receptive language, dysphagia, augmentative communication, pragmatics, and cognition.
The following insurances are accepted for speech and language services: Medicare, Aetna, Horizon BC/BS NJ, Cigna, United Healthcare, AmeriHealth, and Humana Military. Private pay is also accepted. Monica works out of North Wildwood, but can also provide services through telemedicine and video conferencing, for clients whose insurance plans include new and progressive lines of service.
Monica truly loves what she does and is excited about the opportunity to help families throughout Cape May County. Her goal with this new practice is to assist families with all of their needs and expand her offering with additional forms of therapy in the future. If you or a loved one needs speech pathology services, call Monica today to schedule an appointment.
