CAPE MAY – The Middle Township Middle School Girl’s Overnight “Lock-In” is an annual school sleepover for girls only was held at Middle Township Middle School Feb. 3. All middle school girls were invited to participate in this event. The “Lock-In” supports and fosters a positive atmosphere for all young adolescent female attendees to learn new skills and activities in a fun way. The girls returned to school at 6 p.m. on Friday night and were picked up 7 a.m. on Saturday. Female teachers and other key women community leaders volunteered their time overnight to chaperone. The girls are grouped and rotated during the course of the “lock-in” to participate in many different activities such as yoga and meditation, health and beauty, manners and etiquette, dance/Zumba, arts and crafts, karaoke, cooking, and expression through poetry. Keynote speakers addressed the relevant and important topics of bullying and self-esteem. The girls had dinner and enjoyed an ice cream sundae party and left with fond memories of a positive experience.
