My name is Danielle Davies and I’m running for Freeholder of Cape May County, the county I have called home for almost my entire life.
Raised by my hard working parents in Upper Township—my father was a member of the NJ Carpenters Union and my mother was a secretary at the Stone Harbor Elementary School—I graduated Ocean City High School in 1992 as the president of my class before attending Villanova University.
After graduating from Villanova in 1996, I met my husband of 15 years, Ed. The two of us lived in California and Philadelphia—where I worked in publishing then education and Ed worked as an auto mechanic—before ultimately deciding to start a family back at home, here in Cape May County.
In 2006, we made settlement on our house in Upper Township, just over a mile from the house I grew up in—where my parents still live—and near my sister and her family.
Here in Upper Township, I’m the mom to two amazing kids, ages 8 and 12, and I work as a freelance writer. I’ve spent the last decade interviewing and writing about a lot of residents of Cape May County, and one thing I’ve noticed is how much innovation and hard work are a part of our community. It’s been a great honor to give voice to the hopes and struggles of my neighbors.
My husband works as a truck driver for Old Dominion Freight Line. One of the things he’s noticed while driving through the county is how many businesses have gone under, how many houses have been foreclosed upon, and how many vacant storefronts are littering our beautiful county.
I think we can do better.
I’m running for Freeholder because I believe that government needs to be for the people, by the people. Unfortunately, too many people are having their voices ignored. The only way to effectively advocate for them—for us—is to get involved.
Vote for a change this November. Vote for Davies and Wall for Freeholder on Nov. 7.
