The boy and girl champions will compete in the National Marbles Tournament June 18-21.
The official game played at the National Marbles Tournament is “Ringer.”
In Ringer, there are 13 target marbles that are placed in the middle of the ring and in the shape of an ‘X,’ one target marble in the middle with three on each leg spaced three inches apart on center.  The object of Ringer is to be the first mibster to shoot out seven marbles.
The preliminary rounds will be a round-robin competition with games comprised of six innings. Each player will get six turns against his/her opponent.
Whoever shoots out the most marbles wins; in the event of a tie, the players will “lag,” The two players stand with one foot on the edge of the ring and toss marbles towards the lag line, the closest marble wins.
The semi-final and final rounds will be games of Ringer.  There will be girls’ and boys’ divisions.
For information regarding the tournament, contact Jerry Sieber (609) 287-1622 or Betty Harshaw (609) 827-2082.
Demonstrations of marbles shooting techniques and explanation of the game can be arranged.
