‘Local Tourists’ seeks local participa-tion in upcoming film

By On Deck Staff

Award-winning writer/director Doug Lenox is bringing his brand of cinematic comedy to the Wildwood area with his latest short film, “Local Tourists.”
As a beach town native and avid fan of Wildwood, Lenox wrote “Local Tourists” in homage to the local residents of America’s coastal communities.
“Local Tourists” is Lenox’s NYU graduate thesis project. Filming will begin November 2.
“Local Tourists” tells the story of three hapless, motel-dwelling friends living in Wildwood, who are faced with the prospect of losing their jobs on the boardwalk.
The impending layoff tests the bond between the trio of friends, and forces each aging misfit to decide whether he should stay in town, or go.
Currently in pre-production, “Local Tourists” is in search of actors, crew, business owners, and area residents interested in participating in the project.
Additionally, Lenox is in search of a good barber to help maintain his pompadour while he is in town.
Lenox’s previous films have screened at over 50 film festivals in seven countries including the Los Angeles Film Festival, the Nashville Film Festival, and the Woodstock Film Festival.
He has won numerous awards and honors, including the Student Award at the Hamptons International Film Festival.
Teaming up with Doug Lenox will be his longtime collaborator and cinematographer, John Nijhawan, production designer Kristen Adams, as well as producers David Mandel and Nicole Michaelis.
Michaelis is a Middle Township High School alum.
