TRENTON – The J. Sterling Morton Award recognizes an individual who has had a positive impact on the environment due to his or her lifelong commitment to tree planting and conservation.
According to a release, the individual will have demonstrated a commitment to advancing tree planting and care through a record of education, work experience, talent, and temperament.
The award winner will have made significant contributions to tree planting, canopy improvement, conservation, education, research, or organizational leadership over his or her lifetime or professional career.
Eligibility
Those eligible include individuals with a longstanding dedication to trees. This is a lifetime achievement award.
Criteria
The award winner: Demonstrates outstanding commitment over his or her career or lifetime to tree planting and care for the betterment of the environment. He is a respected leader, recognized as a model of integrity and collaboration as he or she mobilizes others in tree planting and care. Inspires others to engage in careers in tree planting, arboriculture, urban planning, landscape architecture, conservation education, horticulture, research, or community service.
Nominations for the J. Sterling Morton Award are due by 5 p.m., Feb. 15, 2020.
Provide a brief nomination narrative providing justification for the nomination based on the criteria described above. Nomination must state the Name, Title, Organization, Email, and Telephone Number of both the nominator and the nominee, if different.
Nomination narratives should not exceed two pages in length. Self-nominations are accepted and encouraged.
Presentation of the J. Sterling Morton Award will take place at the New Jersey State Arbor Day Celebration, April 24, 2020 (location tbd).
