UPPER TOWNSHIP – The Historical Preservation Society of Upper Township will hold its next general meeting Nov. 10, 2015 at 7:00 p.m. at the Upper Branch of the Cape May County Library.
The speakers for the evening will be Henry Heacock and Michael Houdart the co-authors of the booklet “Cape May County Revolutionary War Soldiers and Patriots.” They will present the interesting story of Cape May County during the Revolutionary War and the brave Cape May County Patriots in that crucial time in our nation’s history.
Everyone in attendance will be asked to sign the “Oath of Allegiance” to support the cause of the Colony. The Patriots put their lives on the line by signing this oath. Will you be so brave?
“I do sincerely profess and swear, I do not hold myself bound by allegiance to the King of Great Britain, so help me God. I do sincerely profess and swear that I do and will bear true faith and allegiance to the government of New Jersey, under the authority of the people, so help me God.”
Light refreshments and the general membership meeting will follow the presentation.
All are welcome but no tories allowed!
