Fishing for Kids Day to Be Held June 25 in Ocean City

By Press Release

OCEAN CITY — On Sun., June 25, the Ocean City Marlin & Tuna Club and the Ocean City Yacht Club will be sponsoring their 25th annual charity fishing event for children from the Philadelphia Variety Club Camp, the local Big Brothers/Big Sisters organization, and the Kids Challenge Baseball League from suburban Philadelphia.
Over 130 children and parents will attend and enjoy a day of fishing on the Ocean City Bay. These children all have been dealt a difficult hand in life with either physical, mental, or family difficulties
Twenty five sleek sports fishing boats, owned by members from the two clubs, will arrive at the Yacht Club to pick up the families and then cruise to their favorite fishing spots in the bay behind Ocean City. After a morning of fishing, they will return to weigh in their fish, have their pictures taken and enjoy a picnic lunch at the club.
Fire engines and other emergency vehicles from the Ocean City Fire Department and Ocean City Police Department will be on hand during lunch to give the children a firsthand look at their equipment and to answer their questions.
The event concludes around 1:30 p.m.
This event has proven to be an annual highlight for many of the families. It has also given the crews of the fishing boats a great sense of satisfaction to be able to share their good fortune.
