Wildwood Catholic HS Appoints Degatano Dean of Academics

North Wildwood, N.J. – Anthony T. Degatano, a school administrator and business executive, has been appointed as the new Dean of Academics at Wildwood Catholic High School in North Wildwood, NJ as announced by Father Joseph Wallace. Mr. Degatano brings extensive experience as an educator with a wide range of experience including classroom teacher, supervisor, principal and professor at Drexel University. His appointment is effective at the end of this current school year.
Mr. Degatano has worked in various schools and positions throughout the state of New Jersey. Currently living in Cape May, NJ, he received his bachelor’s degree from Rider University in Elementary Education. He earned his Master’s Degree in Administration and Supervision from Kean University and completed Leadership Training at Drexel University where he taught for their school administrator program as an adjunct professor. Mr. Degatano’s extensive experience includes consultant/Coordinator of Special Education Services for Capital Prep Charter High School in Trenton, NJ, Regional Vice President of New Jersey operations for Catapult Learning formerly Sylvan Schools in Jersey City, NJ, Principal and Director of Instruction of Alternative School for Independent Child Study Teams, Inc. in Jersey City, NJ, Director of Educational Services for the Union County Educational Services Commission in Westfield, NJ state Compensatory Education Assistant Coordinator for the Elizabeth Board of Education in Elizabeth, NJ and Teacher of Elementary Education in Elizabeth, NJ.
Much of Degatano’s career involved working closely with Catholic Schools throughout the state of New Jersey. “During this tenure, I had the opportunity to collaborate with many wonderful people who are instrumental to Catholic Scholarship” says Degatano. Father Wallace, who is President of Wildwood Catholic High School, is excited and pleased that Mr. Degatano has accepted this position “ We are all so excited that a man with such extensive experience in education as well as the business world has accepted this position. Everyone involved agrees that he will be an asset and bring so many new opportunities to the school as he begins his new position.” says Father Wallace.
In his new role, Mr. Degatano’s duties will include maintaining and developing academics, day-to-day operations of the school, accountability in financial matters, acting liason with government agencies for the procurement of grants and entitlements and Chief Operations Officer of the school. The Academic Dean will also be responsible for achieving the mission of Wildwood Catholic High School which is to offer a traditional environment which seeks to nurture the whole person by encouraging academic excellence and discipline, character development, spiritual growth, athletic competition, training in the arts and humanities, and meaningful service and missions outreach.
