Hot Weather Boosts Lemonade Sales

COURT HOUSE — Recently, while I was leaving the library on Mechanic Street, I heard the shouting of two young girls yelling, “Lemonade, 50 cents!”
So I went to the source and found 9-year-olds Julia Mallett and Maddie Deane selling lemonade on a little table on the side of the library. The two were out trying there best to make some money on a very hot day.
Upon interviewing the two, I found that they were at their house playing on their trampoline when Julia’s sister suggested they go out and sell some lemonade. So they agreed to it and put up their stand.
They said that shouting was the best way to attract customers and it certainly attracted me because as soon as I heard the shouting I came right over. I asked if they thought it was cool to be able to do such a thing and they said yes. So it goes to show that even in a small town like Court House, kids can still find something to do…and make a little money as well.
