Dom Irrera is a world-renown comedian who got his start right here in Wildwood.
Irrera told me that he has a sentimental sport in his heart for the Jersey shore and Wildwood in particular.
Before he achieved stardom (he has appeared on Seinfeld, Comedy Central, The King of Queens…), Philadelphia-born Irrera was always assured of a gig from his friend, Mark Vito, owner of the Casba Comedy Club (609-522-8444), located on the corner of Spicer and Atlantic aves.
“Mark always made room for me,” Irrera noted.
So to return the favor, Irrera appears every year at the Casba, right around this time, as he aligns his appearance with a vacation here at the cape.
He likes to end his summer and begin his vacation in Wildwood, where he can catch up with some of the hometown friends (he now lives in California), and maybe catch an Eagles game.
This year, Irrera will appear at the Casba Sept. 3- 6. Showtimes are 9 p.m. Thursday, Friday, and Sunday, and two shows Saturday—8 and 11 p.m.
