Dennis Township Middle School eighth-graders in Mr. Gurdgiel’s Social Studies class recently participated in a debate where they defended actions and policies of the Patriots and Loyalists during the American Revolution.

The Dennis Township community came together to make sure local families have a bountiful Thanksgiving holiday.
Twenty-one township families received all the ingredients for a traditional Thanksgiving dinner thanks to Dennis Township School District families and staff, Cape May County PBA Local 401, Dennisville United Methodist Church, Community Thrift of South Seaville United Methodist Church, and the Parkway South Seventh-Day Adventist Church.
Joe Berg, president/state delegate of Cape May County PBA Local 401 and Gabriel Berkey, sergeant at arms, donated 60 pies on behalf of Cape May County PBA Local 401. Dennisville Methodist Church donated six complete dinners. The Parkway South Seventh-Day Adventist Church provided four overflowing baskets of food, and Community Thrift of South Seaville United Methodist Church donated $500 of gift cards for families to pick up any final necessities for their meals. District staff and families donated over 40 turkeys and countless bags of potatoes, cans of cranberry, all the fixings, and stacks of reusable totes to put the food in.
Dennis Township Middle School Student Government members collected, sorted, and packed reusable grocery bags for the families.

Dennis Township Middle School Boys to Men and Hawkettes clubs collaborated on a community service project to benefit Beacon Animal Shelter in Upper Township.
The club donated used, yet usable household items such as towels, blankets, and sheets while the girls club made homemade dog biscuits.
Then, members of each club, along with their fabulous club leaders brought the items to the animal shelter. There, the students took a tour of the facility, played with a pretty dog, and interacted with some cuddly kitties.
It was a great experience for the students of DTMS to partake in such a wholesome community project where they saw their hard work played out from beginning to end.
Advisors Jamie McGowan, Marni McCann, Kevin Poltorak, and Drew Albany were proud of the students’ work and also enjoyed the afternoon visiting with the animals.
