Dennis Committee Touts Ale O’Ween Success

By Sponsored

Mayor Zeth Matalucci and the township committee, along with the organization “Friend In Need,” would like to thank all who attended and played roles in planning, organizing and executing the highly successful Ale O’Ween, Dennis Township’s first-ever event of its kind.
The event, held Oct. 19 at the Dennis Township Recreation Center, included many local breweries from Cape May County. Offering their unique brews were Slack Tide, Bucket Brigade, Ludlam Island, COHO, and Mudhen. Food trucks, including Smoker and Adele, Mermaid Mutineer, Jays Crab Shack, and Taco Shack,  offered a variety of snacks that all enjoyed.
All proceeds benefited Friend in Need, a charitable organization, and township sports.
“Dennis Township never had a unique festival of its own,” Mayor Matalucci said. “It was a great opportunity for friends and neighbors to gather.”
The event also supported local businesses and showcased Dennis Township’s beauty, small-town charm, and hospitality.
Township committee member Matthew Cox said Ale O’Ween enjoyed an excellent turnout.
“Almost 900 beer tickets were sold, and an estimated 600-700 people came in throughout the day,” Cox said. “We were lucky to have perfect fall weather and cooperation from so many different parties. It was all hands on deck.”
“People kept asking for us to do it next year,” said township committee member Tom VanArtsdalen, who spearheaded planning Ale O’Ween. “We have plans to make it even better next year, including adding a distillery, winery, and some merchandise vendors.”
Matalucci thanked: Cape May County Sheriff’s Department for providing security, Jason Campbell of Slack Tide, who was instrumental in getting the event off the ground, Rocktologists for providing musical entertainment, township committee member Tom Vanartsdalen, who took the lead on planning, Jessica Bishop, township CFO / administrator, who did an outstanding job planning and executing the event, Friend in Need for partnering with the township, Public Works for setting up the area and breaking it down, as well as Dan Grace for working the entire event, South Seaville Methodist Church for coming out and selling waters, all volunteers who poured beer, sold tickets, etc., all township committee members and members of their families who volunteered and worked the event.
Stay tuned for announcements about an even better Ale O’Ween in 2020!
